About me

Hey, I'm glad you're here.

Welcome and stay a while. in coram Deo is just a little place where I take a few minutes to remember something beautiful about life when the world seems as grey as Vancouver winter.

Why I do this is because I realized that I was missing something very important. I was taking a walk with my son one day, and the look on his face was one of wide, soak-it-in wonder. I suddenly recalled what it was like to feel like that: ALIVE. You know, the first time noticing the rich, loamy scent of the woods, or finally being allowed to splash around in puddles, or getting up Christmas morning to find the living room turned into a sparkling wonderland of tinsel and lights.

And I wondered, "What's happened to me?" I felt kind of like middle-aged Peter Panning slowly remembering what it was like to be that fearless boy in tights from Never Land.

And so, this blog. I figure it's a good way to get me back to that state of wide-eyed wonder. I've become an adult, one who likes to have control over everything. But the more I hang on, the greyer, more colourless life gets. It becomes practical, predictable, small. So, I hope that by focusing a bit on the Beautiful through word and image, I'll be reminded of how immeasurelessly big and wonderful God is, and likewise, the life he's given me.

You're welcome to join me on this journey. I sincerely hope this inspires you also to take moments out of your day to appreciate the Beauty of everydayness, too.
